As part of our vision to REACH, we want to see ten new churches [communities of grace, hope, and love] started. Last quarter, we shared about three that are starting in India, Turkey and Ghana.
This quarter, we want to share about a fourth opportunity for a 2nd generation hispanic and multi-ethnic church right here in our Highland Park community. Ben Torres, our new pastor for Hispanic and Multi-ethnic services, joined us in May of 2018. Ben Torres has had a full and diverse ministry experience. He’s had the opportunity to serve as a campus minister, young adult’s pastor and senior pastor. In the corporate world, he was a visionary for a spectrum of iconic children’s entertainment brands, directing creative development and marketing strategies for a number of major companies. Ben is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, married and a father of five.
“I am very excited about this service because we have the opportunity to embrace the ‘otherness and unity’ we all share in Christ. We want to be accessible, so the service will be in English and all are welcome to attend,” said Ben.
It is Ben’s hope that the service will help attendees develop Christ-centered life rhythms so that the love of God can be demonstrated to others in significant ways.“We have already begun to develop relationships in the Highwood Community. We help at the food pantry twice a month and plans are underway to strengthen our partnership with Lake County’s Nuestro Center. We will also be partnering with other churches for various outreach events within the coming year,” said Ben.
