Week Four I Day 3

SERMON QUOTE

“Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to be the boy who gave Jesus the bread and fish that Christ used to feed 5000?”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

When the little boy left home with his food for the day he had very specific plans for the bread and fish. He was going to eat them. What other purpose could they fulfill? He had his food, for his stomach, nothing else. That is what we do with our possessions, we give them limits on what they can accomplish. Whether it be our time, our money or our skills, we don’t expect to do more with them than simply meet our own needs.

But, we have a God whose dreams are bigger than our dreams. He sees our time, our money, our skills and calls us to do more than we can ever dream or imagine. That little boy turned over his own food, along with his own plans for the food, to Jesus. I don’t think he expected it to feed 5000 people, he simply surrendered.

When my gifts are put into the hands of the ultimate giver, there is no limit to what can be accomplished. He will take what you hand over to him and he will reach the needs of more people than you can on your own. Don’t hold back. Who knows what you will get to be part of if you just surrender.

PRAYER

God of Wonder, I confess that I have thought, “I do not have enough to make a difference or that surely someone else will offer what is needed”. Please help me to trust you by releasing what I cling to by calculating the cost, when you are the great multiplier of what I offer, whether it’s feeding multitudes or as I will discover later, I’ve ministered to Jesus in the least of them.
